Wind Resource Analyst

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Wind Resource Analyst to join our renewables environmental team.This position will specifically work with other Wind Resource Analysts and project managers to analyze the wind resource, design and optimize layouts and evaluate energy yields for utility scale wind projects. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects in the area of wind resource and layout design and optimization
  • Preparation of technical reports and studies used in permit applications
  • Complete technical analysis in the areas of wind resource and energy yield assessments
  • Day-to-day support to Project Managers and Wind Resource colleagues
  • Coordination with both internal and external stakeholders

Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in atmospheric science, engineering or related field with focus on energy systems
  • Five or more years of experience in technical modeling of renewable energy systems
  • Ability to apply standard engineering principles and practices
  • Comfortable analyzing large datasets
  • Detailed documentation focus
  • Sound technical writing skills
  • Great teammate, yet able to work autonomously
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) a must
  • Proficient in GIS tools such as ArcPRO and Global Mapper, and commonly used wind industry tools such as windPRO, WAsP, Windographer and Openwind
  • Familiar with wind turbine technology and common industry standards a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Capability to manage and meet deadlines
