Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Business Development Director to join our team. The Business Development Director will lead efforts in expanding our client base and driving revenue growth within the electric utility sector. As a leading consulting firm specializing in electric utilities, we provide innovative solutions and strategic guidance to utilities navigating challenges in an evolving energy landscape. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company objectives and revenue targets within the electric utility industry.
2. Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship-building with utility executives, decision-makers, and stakeholders.
3. Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, client needs, and competitive landscape within the electric utility sector.
4. Lead the development and presentation of proposals, pitches, and presentations to prospective clients, showcasing our firm's expertise, capabilities, and value proposition.
5. Collaborate closely with internal teams, including consultants, project managers, and subject matter experts, to develop tailored solutions and proposals that meet client needs and address industry challenges.
6. Manage the end-to-end sales process, from initial contact through contract negotiation and close, ensuring a seamless transition to project delivery teams.
7. Maintain and nurture ongoing relationships with existing clients, serving as a trusted advisor and seeking opportunities for additional engagements and upselling of services.
8. Represent [Company Name] at industry conferences, events, and networking forums to raise awareness of our brand, build relationships, and generate leads.
9. Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies impacting the electric utility sector, and leverage insights to inform business development strategies.
10. Provide regular reporting and updates on sales pipeline, client interactions, and business development activities to senior management.

Required Skills

• Proven track record of success in driving business growth, achieving sales targets, and cultivating relationships with utility clients and stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of the electric utility industry, including market dynamics, regulatory environment, grid modernization, and digital transformation.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or consulting roles within the electric utility industry.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and solutions to diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, able to develop and execute business development plans aligned with company objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend conferences, and represent the company.
