Substation Graduate Engineer Physical

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Graduate Engineer - Physical to join our team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for physical design for utility scale substations for power delivery, solar, and wind applications.
• Prepares reports, specifications and drawing packages.
• Review and approves project submittals, RFIs and supports field activities during construction.
• Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects.
• Day-to-day support and input to internal and external Project Managers.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) a must.
• Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others’ work.
• Ability to use sound engineering judgment.
• Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing with attention to details.
• Open & available for minimal travel (<20%).

Required Experience

• 0-2 years of relevant experience required

• Familiar with applicable codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC).

Preferred Experience

• EIT/FE certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year is preferred.
• Experience developing general arrangements, section views, plan views, and associated BOM preferred.
• Experience completing AC and DC load, voltage drop, and conduit fill calculations preferred. 

• Experience developing equipment and construction specifications a plus.

• AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting experience a plus.
