Electrical Project Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our team in our Denver, CO office. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the design of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including plant layout, electrical collection system design, selection of appropriate system hardware, system optimization, determination of power generation and interconnection requirements, and leading portions of the electrical engineering of projects. Coordinate with Senior Engineers and Project Managers to maintain firm standards and consistency.

Required Experience

  1. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and four (4) years of experience in the design of commercial, distribution and utility scale solar power generation system.
  1. Additional experience must include:
  • NEC and NESC Code
  • DC and MVAC electrical collection system design and conductor sizing
  • solar PV technology and electrical equipment (solar module, racking, electrical conductor, inverter, transformer, and battery system)
  • designing different stage of a solar PV project from early development to post-construction support.
  • solar PV project production analysis and optimization.
  • calculating potential loss (soiling, module quality, shading and Ohmic losses)
  • evaluating and designing based on local jurisdiction requirements, environmental constraints and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Reading and creating construction drawings and specification packages
  • PVsyst and SAM PV production modelling software
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Microsoft Office
  • Bluebeam
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud and Procore
  1. Licensure/certifications
    • EIT (engineer in training) license in NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying)
  1. Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
