Power Distribution Technical Clerk

(Part-Time 20+ hours/week)

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Technical Cleck to join our Power team in the Lansdale, PA area. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the control of various drawings and other technical documents associated with Power Distribution Engineering design work. The qualified individual will be responsible for managing revision history and ensuring accuracy and consistent quality. This position will require becoming familiar with various software and processes that are client specific. This individual will be the sole point of contact for the exchange of documents to and from the client. Responsibilities include compiling written products from technical staff, editing, proofreading, formatting, and generating final reports or proposals, bringing a focus on maintaining corporate standards to final document preparation. This position is part-time with a guarantee of 20 hours per week, most of which will be on-site at our client’s office in Allentown, PA. Remaining time can either be remote or in our Lansdale, PA office.Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the lead of a Supervising Engineer with a team of other Engineering Technicians to complete projects for clients. 

  • This position is Part-Time (with a guaranteed 20 hours per week). If more time is required in any given week, employees are given at least a 2-day' notice.

  • On-Site at Client office in Allentown, PA/Hybrid

  • Perform certain aspects of Power Delivery Design, (One-Calls, DOT and municipality permitting, right-of-way requests, procurement assistance, and lower-level design activities.)

  • Develop an understanding of each deliverable necessary for the project at hand. Including construction plan drawings, work location notes, bill of materials and permitting/ROW documentation.

  • Be involved in internal/external reviews of designs completed prior to final submission.

     

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude to be able to change paper rolls on large output plotter,

  • The ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • A high degree of organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at once.

     

Required Experience

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to learn client specific software.

  • Able to identify formatting problems and errors and resolve any queries with the appropriate department or Project Manager.

  • Attention to detail and understanding of basic revision control.

  • Applicants will be required to work with a range of people in a variety of professional positions. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills will be essential.

Preferred Experience

  • Ability to read construction prints and other technical drawings.

  • Experience in the consulting field preferred but not required.

  • Basic knowledge of Electrical Utility Industry.
