Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Noise Control and Acoustics Intern to join our team in our Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. This position is anticipated to start Summer 2025. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with data interpretation using spreadsheet analysis while effectively maintaining data documentation.
  • Collaborate on desktop noise modeling efforts to support renewables, energy, transportation, and land development projects.
  • Assist with field measurements, equipment maintenance, and associated documentation.
  • Prepare reports and memos to deliver analysis results and communicate technical concepts, including clear, complete, and accurate data representations.
  • Research and interpret local noise ordinances and general planning/zoning policies to identify applicable noise regulations in different jurisdictions.
  • Core responsibility includes processing data from project team members and anticipating information needs and presentation format as part of engineering workflows.

Required Skills

  • Strong capabilities in data manipulation and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic understanding of acoustic concepts, including noise level metrics and common environmental noise sources.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple assignments, determine and set job task priorities and work with limited direct supervision.

Preferred Experience

  • Pursuing or possessing a degree in acoustics, physics, environmental planning, mechanical engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy systems, mechanical (HVAC) equipment, or environmental policy.
  • Experience using CadnaA, SoundPlan, WindPro, TNM 2.5, or another popular noise modeling software.
  • Experience using sound level meters for field noise measurements.

Compensation Range Minimum

USD $20.00/Hr.

Compensation Range Maximum

USD $23.00/Hr.
