Senior Project Manager - Water Resources

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Water Resources team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. Our ideal candidate will have 10+ years of diverse hydrologic and hydraulic stormwater modeling and drainage facility design experience supporting private and public sector projects. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
  • Prepare plan documents, technical reports and supporting design calculations
  • Oversee preparation of detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation
  • Produce high quality work and implement and maintain quality assurance procedures
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, support services and subconsultants
  • Coordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies
  • Coordinate with Clients depending on project role
  • Identify applicable codes, standards or other design requirements
  • Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates
  • Perform field reviews and other assessments for use in design
  • Participate in contract bidding, provide limited observation during construction, review submittals and RFIs
  • Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies
  • Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Make decisions independently regarding various issues and methods
  • Mentor, train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel
  • Prioritize and manage own workload and manage junior staff's work
  • Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the service.
  • Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism

  • Proficient with various stormwater modeling software and knowledgeable with drainage facility design and other related design elements
  • Proficient in AutoDesk Civil3D and/ or MicroStation and Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in the application of local and national design standards
  • Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
  • Ability to delegate assignments and determine methods and procedures

Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Texas
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the Water Resources Service and stormwater modeling/design
  • This position requires travel to project sites and other Westwood offices throughout the United States

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience developing relationships with public sector clients
  • Experience in accounts receivable, invoicing, and overall duties involved in managing a design team
  • Strong presentation skills paired with the ability to coach and motivate others
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience developing proposals and marketing strategies
